How to add fingerprint lock on WhatsApp ?(6 simple steps)

Keeping our WhatsApp messages private was such a difficult job until now. But since the newest WhatsApp update, we can easily add a fingerprint lock to our WhatsApp. Thus it can prevent our siblings, parents, or friends from accessing it.

Here in this article, I’m explaining six simple and easy steps to set up a fingerprint lock on WhatsApp messaging app. These are the clear and detailed steps along with images. After following these steps you will be able to successfully add a fingerprint lock on WhatsApp so that the next time someone other than you try opening WhatsApp on your phone won’t be able to do so.

Add fingerprint lock on WhatsApp

STEP 1

First, you need to open WhatsApp and click on the three dots in the top right corner of your screen as shown in the image.

Step 1: Click on the 3 dots.

STEP 2

In the second step, you need to select the ‘settings’ option from the displayed list.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Settings’ option

STEP 3

Right after you land on the settings page you will see a list of different settings. You need to click on the first one that says ‘Account’.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Account’ option

STEP 4

Now in the accounts screen, you need to access the ‘privacy’ option which again is at the top of the list.

Step 4: Click on ‘privacy’.

STEP 5

In the privacy screen, you need to scroll down the page and you can see an option named ‘fingerprint lock’ at the bottom of the privacy lists. You can take a reference from the image below.

Step 5: Click on the ‘fingerprint lock’ option.

STEP 6

Now you just need to turn the ‘Unlock With fingerprint’ toggle on. After that, you need to verify your fingerprint. Just touch the fingerprint sensor to confirm your fingerprint and you have successfully added a fingerprint lock on WhatsApp. Further, you can also choose the time to lock WhatsApp after you close the WhatsApp app. It is best to lock your WhatsApp app immediately after you close it, for your overall privacy.

Step 6: Turn the toggle on.

Next time when you try to open the WhatsApp app, you would be asked to put in your fingerprint. Just as shown in the image below.

Note that you can remove the fingerprint lock on WhatsApp by just turning the ‘Unlock with Fingerprint’ toggle off as shown in image 6 above.

Just like on Android, we can also add the TouchID or FaceID lock to WhatsApp on iOS devices too. All you need to do is follow the same six simple steps given above. You need to remember that in the initial step, the ‘settings’ option in iOS will be situated at the bottom right instead of the top right as in android OS. Also in the final step, the toggle text will be ‘Require Face ID/Touch ID’ instead of ‘Unlock with fingerprint’ as in Android OS.
